Ling Ling Change Tries to Crush Newman Recall

Today word broke on the Twitters that Ling Ling Chang was planning to run in the recall against Senator Josh Newman. She has since denied this story.

If she isn’t running then why was a leak put out that she was running? Because it’s trial balloon to gauge support for her second bite at the D29 apple. She’s a terrible choice for the recall. First of all she, as an incumbent, lost to a candidate in a bear suit in a district that had been held by the GOP for generations.

Second to that her running takes the narrative of #ResistNewman and #ResistTheGasTax to #MulliganforLingLing. It turns a recall over tax and spending lunacy and flips into the sour grapes narrative that the CA (D)s have been claiming since the paperwork against Newman was pulled.

I have it on good authority that Ling Ling was balked at by donors and that she doesn’t have much support in the party. Word on the street is that her people leaked this #FakeNews as a way to try and suck all of the oxygen out of the room and keep other potential candidates from getting in her way to her second loss by KO.

This is a desperation play by Chang and she is not, according to my source, set to be the anointed candidate.

(D)s Support Law Breaking to Stop the Recall

The (D)s have no shame in their effort to stop the recall against Senator Josh Newman. They could be arguing facts and making a solid case for why Sacramento needs an additional $5.2Billion on top of the $10Billion+ they already tax for transportation.

They could be making the case for why Single Payer isn’t being put in front of the voters.

They could be making a case for all of the government largess that the (D)s perpetually push on taxpayers but they’ll avoid doing any of the hard work.

Instead they’re following Jerry Brown’s example of calling us “Freeloaders” and Josh Newman trying to pin it on “Trump-Style Republicans“.

Not content with character attacks and guilt by association the local (D)s have upped the game to include supporting illegal activity and harassment.

This was posted recently on Facebook:

Some context. It was posted to a conversation about the Newman recall and this response was to a joke about calling in bomb threats from another anti-recall comment. This person, who according to the profile works for a national non-profit should know better.

The poster is correct that calling in a fake threat is illegal. The problem with the idea of signing a recall petition with a “faux name” is that it’s also illegal and takes the form of a felony.

Per California Elections Code – ELEC:

DIVISION 18. PENAL PROVISIONS [18000 – 18700], CHAPTER 7. Initiative, Referendum, and Recall [18600 – 18680], ARTICLE 2. False or Ineligible Signatures on Petition [18610 – 18614]

18613. Every person who subscribes to any initiative, referendum, or recall petition a fictitious name, or who subscribes thereto the name of another, or who causes another to subscribe such a name to that petition, is guilty of a felony and is punishable by imprisonment pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170 of the Penal Code for two, three, or four years.

This isn’t an isolated problem of supporting law breaking. On the Don’t Sign the Recall Facebook page you find posts such as:

OC DNC Wants to Police Involved

If activists are saying that people should commit felonies in order to hurt the recall effort is it too much of a reach to think that a false claim of harassment is over the line for their efforts?

This doesn’t start with “if you run into an over aggressive petitioner” it starts with “if you have time today, please call your local police”. The call to arms is to call the police because they don’t like the content of the petition. I’ve ignored petition gatherers for years when I don’t care about the issue and at worst they ask you a few times in the same way girl scouts hassle you to buy cookies. When I run into these issues I keep walking but the cops have never come to mind. Why? Because petitioners have a right to circulate on public property and on private property in the context of malls and public squares. That and I’m an adult who can politely say “no thanks”.

I do find it humorous that folks on the left always resort to the armed agents of the state in order to protect them from things they don’t like or fear. In this case the same officers they excoriate for racism and brutality are their first line of defense against a recall over a tax.

Another Case to Recall Senator Josh Newman

Newman at Podium

Today the (D)s in the California State Senate passed SB562 which is the single payer healthcare take-over known as the Healthy California Act. This bill will put health insurance companies out of business in California and will cost the state $400Billion which is twice the general fund. It relies heavily of Federal funding and yet covers illegal immigrants which precludes California from getting said Federal funding.

Regardless of your stance on illegal immigration one cannot help but wonder about the magnetic effect of voting to turn California into a Sanctuary State (SB54 which Newman voted for) and then offering free healthcare to every resident when:

(x) “Resident” means an individual whose primary place of abode is in the state, without regard to the individual’s immigration status.

This is not sound fiscal policy in the slightest. It’s an insult to taxpayers who have watched countless businesses flee the hostility of Sacramento. It’s an insult to the people who have yet to come to terms with a legislature that robs us blind to pay for their pork only to demand more at every turn.

When Senator Newman voted to pass SB562 he personally voted to put the over 2,000 people who work for United Health out of a job in his district city of Cypress alone. We have no idea how badly this will hurt St. Jude which is a major employer in Fullerton which is another of his constituent cities. Add to that the other countless jobs which will cease to exist if SB562 comes to fruition.

This will have far reaching ramifications for our state as well as our local communities and yet State Senator Josh Newman, who is currently facing a recall for his vote on SB1, opted to vote with his liberal caucus and against taxpayers once again to push an agenda that is out of step with reality.

Allow me to quote Josh Newman directly from a meeting with the Democratic Party of North Orange County:

“The problem with 562 as it’s come through so far Gorden is there is no plausible plan for the implementation of a single player system.”

“If we don’t have $5Billion for transportation I’m not clear where we’re coming up with $200Billion.”

There is “no plausible plan”. His own words. He knows this system can’t be funded without major taxes and without taking on the insurance and medical industries but none of that matters because it gets in the way of the narrative.

Newman abstained on SB562 in committee because he knew, as you can hear in the above audio, that there was no funding. Yet here we find ourselves on 01 June 2017 with him voting for that very bill despite still having no source of funding beyond a mythical “feasibility study” which will somehow show how Single Payer will be funded.

One of the major arguments I keep hearing against recalling Senator Newman is that he’s a new Senator and we should wait and vote him out in 4 years. In less than 6 months he’s voted to tax working Californians FOREVER with the inflation adjusted and never-sun-setting SB1 & to pass a bill he himself knows has no funding source despite costing twice California’s general fund.

We literally cannot afford for him to keep on casting these types of votes. While he and his allies in Sacramento won’t be touched by these costs, these taxes and these fees such cannot be said for the rest of California.

Am I being dramatic? Resorting to hyperbole? Not at all.  From that same meeting when asked why the (D)s aren’t talking about oil extraction fees Newman responded “I agree”. When asked about fixing the Prop13 assessment “loophole” to make businesses “pay their fair share” Newman responded “I couldn’t agree more”.

Newman has admitted publicly that he wants to raise taxes and add fees and yet he hasn’t once given a speech or put out an Op-Ed detailing how to better spend the money Sacramento already takes in year after year after year.

With his short voting record Senator Newman has proven that he is not a taxpayer or business friendly candidate inside a hostile party. He has unequivocally proven that he is a taxpayer hostile candidate who is one in the same with the party leadership to whom he promised he wouldn’t find himself beholden during the campaign. Less than 6 months into his office and if he is anything it is beholden to the tax-and-spend craziness that would rather attack President Trump than work to solve problems for everyday California.

It makes me both sad and angry that Josh Newman has betrayed my trust and my vote because I like the guy well enough. I wish him no ill will but I as a working Californian cannot afford to let him drive my home state further into the ground. If recalling Newman can help put an end to this super-majority insanity then I’m all in against him because his votes thus far have been all-in against me, my family and all of the hardworking Californians who deserve better from their government.

A Case to Recall CA State Senator Josh Newman

Today I will heading down to ARCO at 519 S. Harbor Blvd here in Fullerton to participate in the recall effort of CA State Senator Josh Newman. I will be there while KFI640’s John & Ken Show as well as KOGO600’s Carl DeMaio live broadcast while attempting to collect the required signatures. Many people will likely show up both for and against the recall and each will have their own reasons and their own beliefs. But why am I supporting the recall of Senator Newman?

I’ve been asked in various outlets and in person how I could support removing an official who was duly elected.

I’ve been asked if its fair to recall Senator Newman simply because he voted to our raise taxes.

I’ve been asked if there’s even a legal case to recall Senator Josh Newman.

I’ve also been accused of being used in a game of partisan bickering and political grandstanding. Being told that I’m nothing more than a tool of a party that lost all power when Newman beat Ling Ling Change thereby securing the Super-Majority for the Democratic Party.

I’ve also been yelled at quite a bit both online and off for my support of this contentious effort.

Obviously anything with a partisan angle or flair will allow people to adorn their blinders and lock arms with their tribe. For most the very answers to the above questions will depend on whom you ask being that (D)s will say that there is no case or justification for a recall whilst (R)s will clearly state the opposite.

None of that matters to me. As I have never been a member of a political party I am unaffected by tribal political grandstanding. Therefore I am going to answer these questions from the perspective of somebody who voted for Newman and yet is supporting his removal from office. Read More
